SKÅL Studio

Skål Studio (pronounced skoal), named after the Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish word for “cheers” or “in good health,” is a high-end carpentry design studio based in Portland, Oregon.

The branding is inspired by the work, being both minimal in design and function-forward, focusing around a monospace typeface and strong grid systems to help drive home the utilitarian theme. The logomark helps offset the rigid forms of the logotype, by drawing off the imperfection and lines of wood grain. The goal of this juxtaposition is to portray the control and mastery of the untamed wood.
